Warning – this is not my usual kind of post but then we are not living in ordinary times, we are living in fierce and stormy times. I am writing to you as I and many I know continue to reel from what just occurred in the US election. We are feeling shock, numbness, rage, fear, powerlessness, and deep grief, truly heartbroken. And our sisters and brothers around the world are right there with us. As I travel my own journey through this time I invite you to “feel your feels” as my friend says. Take care of yourself while honoring what is coming up. Use all the tools in your toolbox.
Breathe, breathe, breathe. Take warm baths, call good friends, go “under the blanket” for awhile, let nature nurture you, listen to music, eat well, drink water, rest – nourish your body and soul as best you can. Reach out for support if you need it. We’re going through a lot and we need EXTREME TLC!
We must allow time to integrate all that has happened so that we can find ways to respond, being in our power and certainty. I have never been what I call an “activist” but I know now I cannot sit on the sidelines. I will be looking for new opportunities to help and make a difference. Trust yourself to find your own path in all of this.
The other morning, waking at 5:30 and unable to get back to sleep (as has been the case since the election) I lay in bed and imagined standing with all women around the world in a huge circle, felt their hands in mine, felt their pain alongside their deep wisdom and power, power to affect the changes needed on this planet. I know I can return to this felt sense image at those moments I feel despair creeping in.
Today I want to share a 3 minute video I made back in 2022 in the middle of the pandemic. It’s about holding hope in the midst of a crazy world and it’s as relevant today as it was back then. I hope it resonates and brings you a bit of help today.
